John William, "Billy", Prescott was born to Jackson Lafayette and Nancy Etta Clark Prescott on August 10, 1867 in Elba, Coffee County, Alabama. John, the eldest, had eight siblings and they are Louise Ellafare, Debby Narcissus, Jackson Lafayette Jr., Daniel Franklin, Gordon Moore, Georga Lenore Minnie Lola and Oscar Precott.

Billy married Carrie B. Summerlin and together they had a son, Lionel J. Prescott. They were divorced before 1897.

On August 1897, Billy married Nancy "Nan" Thatcher Ford in Cameron, Milam County, Texas. Together, Billy and Nan had eight children and they are Lois Precott (Hess), William Conley "Con", Lola Prescott (Westbrook), Lela Prescott (Christillis), Daniel "Dan" Lafayette, John "Terrol", Charlie Ford Sr. and little baby Reba Guinn Prescott.
