Dies at Age of 87
Mrs Sarah Lewis, 87, of1103 East Washington Street, died at 2:20 a.m. Thursday at Mennonite hospital of anemia and complications resultant from a fall at her home four weeks ago. She had been a patient at the hospital since April 30.
As Sarah E. Armstrong,she was born, April 21, 1848, in Belfast, Ireland, a daughter of James and Maria [Margaret] Armstrong. They brought her to the United States when she was a year old.
She was married at Downs in 1876 to Frank Lewis, who preceded her in death in 1887. They were the parents of four children, one of whom died in infancy. Another, James O. Lewis, preceded Mrs. Lewis in death.
Surviving are a son, Edwin S. Lewis, with whom she made her home; a daughter, Mrs. Maggie L. Coley, Evansville, Ind.; a brother, John M. Armstrong, 101 Irving Avenue, Normal, and a sister, Miss Hannah Armstrong, Colfax.
The body was taken to the Goodfellow Memorial chapel, where the funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Hopewell cemetery at Downs.

The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Lewis of 1103 East Washington street,
whose death Thursday resulted from complications following a fall,
was held at the Goodfellow memorial chapel at 10 a. m. Saturday.
The Rev. Chester B. Grubb of First Christian church officiated. Mrs.
Oliver Havenhill sang, accompanied by Mrs. Arthur Lartz. With burial in Hopewell cemetery at Downs, pallbearers were: W. J. Haas, James McKee, Elmer Bennett, Harry Hauck. Alfred Smalley, and L. R. Stephens.
