J. CURTIS SMITH OF IUKA TAKEN BY DEATH

IUKA. Aug. 26 (Special) -- J. Curtis Smith, Pioneer resident of Iuka, passed away at his home here at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon at the advanced age of 79 years and one month.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at one o'clock at the Methodist church here. Interment will be made in the Iuka Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born in Kentucky, but at the age of five years moved to Clay County, Illinois with his parents. Later he moved to Marion County where he has lived for more than fifty years.

He is survived by his widow and four daughters, Mrs. John Widdows of Springfield; Mrs. Walter Thurston of Granite City; Mrs. Thomas Arnold of Salem, and Mrs. James Mulvaney of Iuka.
