FELIX J RIETH

Felix J. Rieth, 85, of 1510 Mason St., New Holstein, died Monday, March 31, 1997 at Willowdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein after a courageous battle with cancer. He had resided there the past three weeks. He was born April 10, 1911 in St. Anna, son of the late Nicholas and Anna Weiler Rieth. He attended Catholic school in St. Anna. On Aug 17, 1937 he married Rosalind "Rosie" Wettstein at Marytown. The couple would have celebrated their 6oth wedding anniversary this year.
Felix operated Rieth's Sinclair Service Station. From 1968 to 1974 he and his wife operated The Elite Bar in New Holstein; he also was head custodian for 11 years at New Holstein High School retiring in 1977. After retirement he worked at Pioneer Container for 10 years until suffering a stroke in 1987.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein fo rover 60 years, a member of the Holy Name Society where he was a past treasurer for many years, a member of the Catholic Knights, a past usher for 35 years, 24 of which he was head usher and a past charter member of the New Holstein Lions Club. The couple were avid travelers.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Donna (Jerome) Ludwig of Franklin, Jeanne (Lee) Sabel Jr. of St. Peter, Sherry (Dennis) Mytko of St. Anna, Lori Rieth of Round Lake Park, Ill., LuAnn (John) Sopko of Green Bay, 10 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mabel Casper and Romilda Steiner.
He was preceded in death by one son, John; one granddaughter, Amy Mytko, four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church the Rev. Patrick Lloyd, SDS officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery,
