Clemens N. Rieth, 73, formerly of Route 1, New Holstein, and a resident of Calumet Homestead in New Holstein since 1978, died there Tuesday, Dec. 16.

He was born in the town of New Holstein Nov. 2, 1907, a son of Nicholas and Ann Weiler Rieth. He attended school in St. Anna.

His marriage to Barbara Woelfel took place Sept. 12, 1933, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. A farmer in New Holstein throughout his life, Mr. Rieth retired in 1976.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Orville of Rural Chilton; four daughters, Mrs. David (Bernetta) Gilsdorf of Kiel, Mrs. David (Ludwina) Horn of St. Cloud, Mrs. Robert (Lillian) Hansen of New Holstein, and Mrs. Alvin (Evelyn) Preissner of Rural Malone; 24 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Felix Rieth of New Holstein; and three sisters, Mrs. Clara Stemper of Plymouth, Mrs. Mabel Casper of Milwaukee and Mrs. Romilda Steiner of rural New Holstein.

Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral Mass was at St. Ann Catholic Church in St. Anna. The Rev. John Gallagher, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
