Minnie F. Walker

Minnie Florence Hays was born near Alton, Kansas in Mt. Ayr township on October 25, 1883, and departed this life at the Hadley Memorial Hospital in Hays, Kansas on August 14, 1953 at the age of 69 years, 9 months, and 20 days.
She was the second child in a family of thirteen children and her parents were James and Emma Hays.
On October 21, 1903 she was united in marriage to Marion Walker, and to this union eight children were born, five daughters and three sons.
She spent her entire life in the vicinity of Alton and Natoma, and in 1929 the family moved to Stockton where she has resided until the time of her death.
She was a loyal wife and mother, always interested in the welfare of her children and grandchildren.
She confessed her faith in Christ early in life and became a member of the Pleasant Plain Church, later moving her membership to Webster and in 1951 transferred her membership to the Stockton Methodist Church.
She leaves to mourn her departure her husband of the home and the following children: Mrs Mabel Palmer of Woodston; Mrs Violet Byfield and Mrs Velma Bedore of Stockton; Mrs Gladys Baker of Logan, Kansas. Loyal, Glenn and Raymond Walker of Stockton, one daughter Edith Troyer having passed away in 1936; also twenty-nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren, four brothers, Paul Hays of Neosho, Missouri; Otto Hays of Alton, Kansas; Victor Hays, Natoma, Kansas, and Claude Hays of Woodston, Kansas; two sisters, Mrs J.B. Musgrove of El Dorado, Kansas; Mrs Goldie Strutt of Woodston, Kansas; two half-sisters, Mrs Effie Hammond of Winterset, Iowa; and Mrs Laura Wildrix of Stockton, Kansas.
Three of her grandchild are now serving in the Armed Forces, Orville Dean Baker in North Africa, William Walker In France, and Roy Lee Palmer in Korea.
Pall bears were Merlin and Leo Walker, Edmund Eggs, Elton, and Harold Byfield, and Junior Palmer.
Singers were Mrs Loren Schrock, Mrs Donal Sage, Mr Dale Kellogg, Mr Oria Grover.
Services were held in the Stockton Methodist Church, Sunday afternoon, with Rev. John Frint in Charge. Interment was made in the Pleasant Plain Cemetery.
