Woman Dies
MONTICELLO, Ind.—Mrs. Susan
Alice Van Meter, 80, 503 North
Illinois street, died Thursday
night at the St. Elizabeth hospital,
Lafayette.
The daughter of Hiram and
Martha (Archibald) Clegg, she
was born Sept. 9, 1871 in Lafayette.
Pier first marriage was in
1888 to George Alva Lee, who
preceded her in death in 1916.
She was later married to Roy Van
Meter, who survives. She was a
member of the First Christian
church in Monticello and had
spent most of her life in this
community.
Surviving besides the husband
are: six children, William Lee,
Flushing, Mich.; Mrs. Otto Ciark,
Medaryville; Elza Lee, Monticello;
Glenn Lee, Kokomo; Mrs. Orville
Major, Kokomo; Earl Lee,
Rensselaer; four stepchildren, including
Mrs. Hilda. Luderman,.of
here; 32 grandchildren; 29 greatgrand
children; a sister and two
brothers, Mrs. Orpha Wasson.
Norfolk, Va.; Richard and Edwin
Clegg, of Lafayette; a half sister,
Miss Anna Lee, of Lafayette,
Friends may call at the Miller
funeral home after noon Saturday.
Final rites will be Sunday at
2 p.m. at the First Christian
church with the Rev. M. A. Madsen
officiating. Burial will be in
the Bedford cemetery.
