Obituary
Helen Lucile Pratt Dent was born July 31, 1918 at Bancroft, Nebraska, the daughter of Sylvester V. and Emma C. Jensen Pratt. She passed to eternal life with her Savior on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2006 at the Ottawa County Health Center in Minneapolis. She had attained the age of 87 years.

Survivors include a son Edward Dent of Culver; and a daughter, Carolyn and husband William Dossett of Burlington.

The funeral was April 13 at Shields Funeral Home in Minneapolis. A private interment was held at Crown Point Cemetery, Culver.

Helen Lucile Pratt Dent was born July 31, 1918 at Bancroft, Nebraska, the daughter of Sylvester V. Pratt and Emma C. Jensen Pratt. She passed to eternal life with her Savior on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2006 at the Ottawa County Health Center in Minneapolis. She had attained the age of 87 years.

She attended school in Bancroft and lived there until she was 15 years of age. The family moved to McCracken, Kansas in 1933 where she graduated from high school in 1935.

She attended Southwestern College at Enid, Oklahoma and did evangelistic work for several years in Kansas and Nebraska and pastored churches in Scott City and Kiowa, Kansas.

On April 27, 1946 she was united in marriage to Ira A. Dent at Topeka. While living in Topeka she started an Assembly of God church and worked as secretary/receptionist in a physician's office.

They moved to Culver in 1946 when Ira was appointed agent-telegrapher for the Union Pacific Railroad.

She began pastoring the Culver Presbyterian Church in the fall of 1955 and retained that position for the rest of her life. She was Vacation Bible School director for approximately 30 years and was also a member of the United Presbyterian Women.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ira February 16, 1985, her parents and 3 brothers. Survivors iclude a son Edward Dent of Culver, a daughter Carolyn and husband William Dossett of Burlington, Kansas; 2 sisters, Dorothea Schwindt of Great Bend and Blanche May Smith of Ozawkie.
