MRS. NELLIE McGAVRAN

Nellie Amelia Branch was born on the 4th day of March, 1868 in Illinois, and on the 13th of March, 1938, the fifty-first anniversary of her marriage she was taken seriously ill, at the home of her daughter Anna in Larned, Kansas where she passed away on the 17th, at the age of 70 years and 13 days.

She came to Ottawa County Kansas with her parents when but two years of age and had resided in or near Minneapolis almost continuously for sixty-eight years.

On the 13th of March, 1887, she was united in marriage to William H. McGavran. To this union seven children, six sons and a daughter, were born. Two sons, Tom and Paul, and the husband had preceded her in death. The remaining children are Anna of Larned, Kans., Boyd, Loris and Herbert of Minneapolis and Fred of Fresno, Calif. These together with six grand children, two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude White of Topeka, Kans., and Mrs. Olive Bardick of Beloit and a large circle of friends mourn her departure.
Mrs. McGavran was a member of the Relief Corp and the Degree of Honor Fraternity and for over forty-six years was a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church in Minneapolis.

Funeral services were held from the R.S. Todd Funeral Home, Saturday afternoon, March 19th, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Fred Blanding. Interment was in Highland cemetery.
