Claudia Inez Kirkley Spencer
Services for Mrs. Claudia Inez Kirkley Spencer, 82, of Shreveport were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25 at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden, La.
The Rev. Paul Cassel, pastor of the Evergreen Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Rt. 1, Minden, La.
Mrs. Spencer died May 23, 1986 at the Minden Meadowview Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born Oct. 22, 1903 at Grove, La., in Webster Parish, the daughter of William Henry Childs, and was preceded in death by her first husband, John Thomas Kirkley.
Surviving Mrs. Spencer is her husband, Fritz L. Spencer of Shreveport; her daughter Mrs. Carlus Morgan of Minden, preceded in death by her son of Cedar Rapides, Iowa, William Leonard Kirkley; grandchildren, Mrs. Barbara Bogan of Shreveport, Mrs. Sandra Sheppard of Minden, Carol Kirkley and Thomas Kirkley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; step-children, Mrs. Peggy Avinger of Shreveport; Fritz L. Spencer, Jr., of Baton Rouge; and Mrs. Jerry Sellers of Shreveport.
Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Patsy Lowe of Minden and Mrs. Sue Murtishaw of Bossier City; preceded in death by a brother, Elvin Childs and two sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Powlidge of Longview, Tx. and Mrs. Gladys Hanks of Shreveport; several nieces and nephews and a number of great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Minden Chapter No. 53, Order of the Easter Star, Minden, La., and a member of the Broadmoor Methodist Church in Shreveport.
Pallbearers were David Lowe, Edward Murtishaw, Chris McGowan, Jimmie Sheppard, F.M. Kirkley, and Morris Guin.
