Final Rites Held
Friday For Mr.
W.H. Childs


Funeral services for Mr. W.H. Childs, 80, of Route 3, Minden, were held Friday at 4 p.m. in the Evergreen Community church with the Rev. Carrington of Benton, Rev. Joe Alexander, Waco, Texas, and the Rev. Rouseaux of Sibley officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of the Norton Funeral Home of Haynesville. Pall bearers were nephews of the deceased: Gilton Lewis, Minden; Franklin Thomas, Haynesville; Emester Merritt, Cotton Valley; Harold Merritt, Minden; Chester Childs, Evergreen; J.C. Childs, Evergreen.

Mr. Childs was a native of Hempstead, Georgia. He resided there twelve years before moving to the Evergreen Community in Webster Parish where he has been prominent in the affairs of his community and parish. Mr. Childs died in the Minden Sanitarium Wednesday morning.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. W. Childs, Evergreen; four daughters, Mrs. G.S. [P]owledge, Kilgore, Texas; Mrs. Wilbur Lowe, Mobile, Alabama, Mrs. S.W. Murtishaw, Bossier City: Mrs. John Kirkley, Route 3, Minden; three brothers, J.B. Childs, Route 3, Minden; Darrel Childs, Glenwood, Arkansas; Walter Childs, Shreveport.

One sister, Mrs. M.A. Blackwell, Shongaloo twelve grandchildren; and numbers of nieces and nephews.
