Graveside services were conducted August 25, 1991 at the K. of P. Cemetery, Lizton, for John Russell Montgomery, age 93, rural Lizton, who died August 22 at the Medco Center, Danville. Kenneth Leathers officiated. Porter Funeral Home, Jamestown, was in charge of arrangements. A native of Union Township, he was born March 12, 1898, a son of Macy and Minnie (Elmore) Montgomery. March 30, 1937 he married Opal Bailey at Jamestown. She survives. Mr. Montgomery was a life-long farmer in Union Township where he also attended school. He was a member of the Lizton K. of P. Lodge #342 and the Pythian Sisters. He is survived by his widow, Opal, and two sisters, Mary Bailey of Garland, Texas and Zola Johnston of Pittsboro.
