She was the oldest of a family fo 16 children.

Mother of Lead Woman dies:

Mrs. Louise Henrietta Schmitger, 68, mother of Mrs. Louise Johnson died at the home of her son, Herman Schmitger in Belle Fourche Thursday, July 20th after a months illness. She was a native of Germany, Born February 15, 1876 and was the oldest of a family of 16 children.
She came to America 53 years ago and in 1897 was united in marriage to Fred Schnitger, the couple making their home in Aladdin, Wyoming. Her husband and four children survive, including Mrs Johnson, Fred Schnitger of Butte, Montana, Mrs. Leonard Knoff of Madison Wisconsin, and Herman Schnitger of Belle Fourche. Others survivors are two sisters and three brothers, Mrs. EL Kipena and Mrs. Larry Forman, Seattle, Washington. William Becker, Jackson, California, Herman Becker of British Columbia and Fred Becker of Butte, Montana also 13 Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of the funeral home in Belle Fourche, Monday July 24 with the Rev Russell A Olsen of the Lead Bethel Lutheran Church in charge. Interment will be in the Belle Fourche Cemetery.
