Mrs. Martha J. Maxwell, wife of Thomas Maxwell of Rolla Route 2 was born Miller Township, Rolla, Missouri on August 10, 1884, and passed away at her home northwest of Rolla early Sunday morning, January 24, 1943, following an illness of several months. She had attained the age of 58 years, 5 months and 14 days. Besides her husband, she is survived by seven sons: Guy of St. Louis; Carl, Louie and Melvin of Rolla; Anderson of Camp Swift, Texas; Andrew, with the U.S. foreign service; Ernest of Camp Chaffee, Ark. Also three daughters: Miss Nancy Maxwell of Rolla; Mrs. Josephine Wynn of Rolla; and Miss Sarah Jane Maxwell of Rolla. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and a half brother, James Overlease, along with a number of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Wynn [Spring Creek Baptist] Church northwest of Rolla on Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Charles Spencer. Pall bearers will be her sons. Burial will be made on the family lot in the Wynn Cemetery under direction of Null & Sons Funeral Home.
