Rheta Mae Snow Miller
1919 ~ 2003

LAYTON - With family members present at the Rocky Mountain Care Facility, our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Rheta Mae Snow Miller, age 84, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2003 of causes incident to age.

She was born October 23, 1919 in Castle Dale, Utah to Clinton Nels Snow and Anna Irene Ferris. Her mother passed away when she was 13 years old. She graduated from Castle Dale High School in 1937. On February 19, 1938, she married LaVell C. Miller in Lakeview, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on April 14, 1938. Her loving sweetheart died on June 2, 1970.

Rheta was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, as well as supporting and sustaining her husband who served as bishop for 13 years. Although she endured many trials throughout her life, she was a valiant daughter of her Heavenly Father. She moved from Castle Gate to Salt Lake in 1973 and later moved to her home in Layton where she resided for 25 years as a member of the Layton Park Ward. She worked for the Price, Greenwell and Towne Cafes, as well as Woolworth while in Carbon County. She began her employment with the LDS church in 1975 working in the Salt Lake, Seattle and Ogden Temples prior to her retirement in 1984. She had many special experiences while working in the temples.

After her retirement, she also served as an organist at the Ogden Temple. She loved music and enjoyed playing in organ recitals and teaching organ lessons. She always went out of her way to assist the missionaries, whether it be the full-time missionaries in her area, or helping missionary grandchildren.

Rheta is survived by her children, Chris (Evelyn) Miller, North Salt Lake; Ernest (Ginger) Miller, Syracuse; Kent (Alice) Miller, Taylorsville; and Johnnie (Joan) Johnatakis, Salt Lake; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grand-children; sisters Merlin Black, Huntington; Joyce (Ted) Jensen, Price; Betty (Irvin) Olson, Mesquite, NV; brothers, Richard Snow, Tracy, CA; Kay Snow, So. Salt Lake; LaMar (Carol) Snow, West Valley; Frank (Kathy) Snow, St. George; step brother Delbert Hansen, Murray and former daughter-in-law Karla Anderson, West Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Anna Marie Johnatakis, grandson John Kent Miller and brother Bazel Snow.

A family memorial service will be held Sunday, December 7, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1967 N. Fairfield Rd. Friends may call at the mortuary from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Price City Cemetery next to her beloved husband on Monday, December 8, 2003 at 12 noon.

If anyone enjoyed life and sharing it with everyone around her, it was Rheta. The colors were brighter, the jokes funnier, and the sounds more likely to urge one to join in when in her company! I feel so fortunate to have been showered with her light.
