From a Vermont newspaper: "Mary Ann Rogers was born August 22, 1836, in Seneca Co., Ohio and passed to rest at her home, October 2, at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 10 days. She was the oldest child of William and Rebecca Clingamon, there being seven other children, three of which preceded her in death. She was married to Friend Steven Rogers, June 29, 1859. To this union were born three children: Anson, Florence Belle, deceased, and Emma. Mrs. Rogers and her husband came to Illinois in 1868 and has made her home in Vermont since 1892. Mrs. Rogers became a member of the Methodist church when a young girl and later became a member of the Christian church in which she was always active and faithful and as long as her health permitted she was found in her place at church. She was a member of the Harmony Rebekah Degree Lodge 53 for the past 23 years. Mrs. Rogers is survived by a son, Anson, of Peoria; a daughter, Mrs. Emma Clark, of this place, two sisters, two brothers and four grandchildren. The funeral services were held from her late home Thursday afternoon, Oct. 4, 1917, conducted by Rev. Fred Wilson."
