Norma spent her childhood as a farmer's daughter in Vermillion. While Al was in the Air Force, Norma was active in the Officers' Wives Club, was a Girl Scout leader, was a Gray Lady volunteer at the base hospital at Travis (her favorite shifts were working in the newborn nursery), and was a constant help to her children with their school work. In her "spare" time she played bridge, studied painting and became an accomplished artist. Whenever possible, she would go with Al home to Utah for the deer hunt in October and to fish at Fish Lake and Otter Creek Reservoir during summer vacations. After Al's retirement from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel in 1973, Norma and Al moved into Norma's childhood home in Vermillion. They also enjoyed traveling abroad. Norma was an immediate friend even to strangers who crossed her path. She will be missed terribly by those she loved.
She is survived by her husband, Al, Vermillion; children, Carole Brow, Clements, CA; Albert "Bill" Brow Jr., Cebu, the Philippines; Elizabeth "Liz" Knight, Orem; and James "Jim" Brow, Mesquite, NV; sons- and daughters-in-law, James Giannopoulos, Jim Knight, Mary Brow, & Earla Brow; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Maureen (Bill) Howell, AZ; brother-in-law, Darwin Anderson, Aurora.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral mass was held on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, in Central Valley, Utah. A celebration of life was held on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, with a viewing starting at 6:00 p.m. Burial took place directly afterward in the Vermillion, Sevier, Utah Cemetery.
