In Deepest Sympathy Arnold W. Bixby of 2058 Wolf Creek Road died Tuesday, November 15, 1988, in the Olean General Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in West Clarksville, NY on December 6, 1914, he was a son of Lou A. and Lena Clark Bixby. On March 20, 1937, in West Clarksville, he married the former Thelma Hamilton, who survives.

A lifelong resident of the Portville, NY area, Mr. Bixby had been employed by Alcas Cutlery Co. and Portville Handle Co., retiring in 1975.

He attended the Obi Community Church.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Harold Bixby of Belfast, NY and Robert Bixby of Cuba, NY; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Carole) Van Der Linden of Cuba, Mrs. Raymond (Sevilla) Van Der Linden of Laveen, AZ., and Mrs. Richard (Bonita) Brunner of Portville; nine grandchildren; a great-child (printed in article); two sister, Mrs. Pauline Merrick of Cuba and Mrs. Edward (Eleanor) Wakefield of Angelica, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Bixby.

Friends called Thursday at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main Street, Portville, where funeral services were held Friday, November 18, 1988, at 2 p.m. The Rev. David Wood, pastor of the Obi Community Church officiated. Burial was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
