Memorial services for Dr. Lyman Hall Ellis, age 76, life-long Lizton resident, were June 24 from the Porter Funeral Home, North Salem, with burial in the Fairview Cemetery there. Dr. Maurice Ankron, Revs. Garland Kincaid and Harold Thomas officiated.
Dr. Ellis died June 20 at the Hendricks County Hospital. Born June 29, 1903, the son of Solomon T. and Martha (Hall) Ellis, he was married Oct. 23, 1931 at Taylorsville, Kentucky to Beatrice Blaydes who survives. An Indiana Medical School graduate, he had been a member of the medical societies of Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Hendricks County Hospital, Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville and Witham Memorial Hospital at Lebanon. He practiced in Lebanon from 1940 to 1942 and at Lizton from 1946 to his retirement in 1979. He was affiliated with county, state and national medical societies, a member of the Lizton Christian Church, a 50-year member of the North Salem Masonic Lodge 142, an Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity.
Surviving with his widow are two sisters, Mrs. Elfia Leach and Mrs. Charlotte Kincaid, both of Lizton. A sister, Floris Cole, preceded.

Dr. Ellis graduated from Lizton High School, got his B.S. degree from Indiana University and received his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine in 1939. After receiving his M.D. degree, Dr. Ellis interned at the St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove. He then opened an office in Lebanon and was there about two years when World War II broke out. He volunteered for service and was a Captain in the U.S. Air Corps. After four years in the service, the Ellises returned home to Lizton in 1946 and he used the doctor's office where Dr. Oscar B. Johnson, also a Lizton boy, had practiced for almost 30 years (1875 to 1906). This office was also used by Dr. Titus, who delivered Hall. It was also the office of Dr. John Hendricks for about 20 years. This included the influenza epidemic in 1918. Dr. Hendricks and the Ellis family lived close together and were good friends so, as a boy, Hall sometimes rode with the doctor when making calls. That office was not used by a doctor during World War II but Dr. Ellis used it until he built a new modern one in 1956 where he still practices medicine and will until Sept. 29, 1979 when he is retiring. Dr. Ellis has served the Lizton community well for almost 40 years and will be missed by everyone.
