MARLAR
Services for Joy M. Marlar, 1106 Irvin St., will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Hillcrest Baptist Church. The Rev. Billy Weckel will officiate.
Burial will be in Carlsbad Cemetery.
Marlar died Monday (Aug. 3, 1992) at St. Mary's Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. She was 85 years old.
Pallbearers will be Frank Colombani, Sam Bradley, Jim Callaway, Ed McAnally, Bob Laird and Roy Harris.
Mrs. Marlar was born April 18, 1907, in Talihana, Okla. She graduated from Talihana High School in 1925 and attended Oklahoma Presbyterian College and Southeast College in Durant, Okla. She graduated from business college in Tulsa as well as the Tulsa School of Cosmetology. Marla was preceded in death by her husband, B.A. Marlar in 1971. She came to Carlsbad in 1946 and became a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was active in WMU, ladies Sunday school class and other related organizations.
Survivors include one son, Al Marlar of Carlsbad; one brother, Murdo Allen of Hominy, Okla.; one daughter, Sarah Keith of Galveston, Texas; two grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
