Eva Rachel Akers Prillaman 87 of Bassett, died Thursday January 6, 2011 at Stanleytown Health Care Center. She was born July 16, 1923 in Franklin Co. the daughter of the late Clora Alice Stone Akers and the late Elmer Russell Akers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two grandson Shawn Harrington, and Bruce Lee Prillaman, sister Colleen Akers Stone.
She attended The Church at Mercy Crossing. Surviving two daughters, Anne P. Prillaman of Douglasville, GA and Brenda P. Church of Bassett; son Gerald "Sam" Prillaman of Richmond; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Christine Cahill of Collinsville, Judy Meece of Bassett; five brothers, Franklin Akers of Monroe, NC; Fred Akers of Martinsville, Russell Akers, David Akers, Dennis Akers all of Roanoke and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday January 8 from 1-2 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service with funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Prillaman and Pastor Jimmy Wood officiating with burial in Roselawn Burial Park. Bassett Funeral Service in Bassett is in charge of the arrangements.
