Mr. Lee was Born June 3, 1925 in Purvis, MS, to the late Edna L. and O.A. Lee.
He was a Graduate of Hollandale High School.
After Serving a Term in the U.S. Navy, he Attended Mississippi State University then Moved to Glen Allen, MS.
Upon his Move to Starkville, MS in 1953, he was Co-Owner of Lee's Inc. (TV Sales and Service).
Before Retiring, he was a Member of the Jaycees.
He also was a Founding Director of Tau Kappa Epsilon at Mississippi State University.
Mr. Lee is Survived by his Wife of 64 Years, Kathryn S. "Kitty" Lee; Two Daughters, Debbie L. Clark and Husband, George, of Starkville, MS; and Peggy L. Carstens and Husband, Gary, of Montgomery, AL; Six Grandchildren (Who Affectionately Called Him "Big Daddy"), John R. "Trey" Lee, III and Wife, Rhonda, of McDonough, GA; Kathryn L. Holden and Husband, Stephen, of Gulfport, MS; Lacey C. Bergin and Husband, Patrick, of Indianapolis, IN; Wesley Clark and Wife, Stephanie, of Memphis, TN; Shawna Lindsey of Montgomery, AL; and Lance Clark of Starkville, MS.
Mr. Lee Enjoyed Spending Time with his Ten Great Grandchildren; Gracie and John R. "Jack" Lee, IV; Lawson, Barrett and Elizabeth Holden; Finley, Clark and Laurel Bergin; Kate Lindsey; and Reese Clark.
He is also Survived by One Sister, Sue McKenzie of Monroe, LA; and Two Brothers, Billy B. Lee and Wife, Joyce; and Joie Mark and Wife, Nell, of Brownsville, TX; and Many Nieces and Nephews.
In addition to his Parents, Mr. Lee was Predeceased in Death by his Brother, P.D. Lee of Starkville, MS; his Sisters, Ida Mae "Ted" Tips of Dallas, TX and Lou Balzer of Boise, Idaho; and his Son, John R. "Rick" Lee, Jr. of Starkville, MS.
Mr. Lee was a Fun Loving Person who Enjoyed Life and had Many Wonderful Friends.
He Enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Gardening and Camping.
He was a Member of First Baptist Church of Starkville, MS.
Services are Friday, December 31, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS.
Visitation is Friday from 12:00 P.M. until Service Time.
Burial will be in Memorial Garden Park Cemetery.
