Funeral services for Gladdie Sue McKenzie, 100, of Raymond, MS formerly of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time Saturday at the Mausoleum Chapel.

Mrs. McKenzie was born March 9, 1917, to Otho Lee and Edna Ladner Lee, in Lumberton, MS, and passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Riggs Manor Retirement Community. She was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women (MSCW) with a degree in Home Economics and an Elementary Education certificate from NLSC. She taught in Mississippi schools until 1950. During WWII, she was a supervisor at a parachute factory in Hattiesburg, MS. Mrs. McKenzie taught 4th grade at Logtown Elementary from 1961-1982. She was a member of College Place Baptist Church from its infancy.

Mrs. McKenzie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herman Wallace McKenzie; son, John Wallace McKenzie; and siblings, Paul Douglas Lee, Ina Lou Lee Blazer, Ida Mae Lee Tips, Billy Bernard Lee, and John Richard Lee.

Survivors include her brother, Joie Mark Lee of Farmerville, LA; children, Robert Groves and wife Brenda of Starkville, MS, Cheryl Groves Davis and husband Hugh of Farmerville, LA, and Jane McKenzie Klinck and husband Gene of Utica, MS; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
