Parents: John Graves Beaven, Sr. and Mary Grace Hill.

Widower of Mary Cecilia "Celie" Logsdon.

The Courier-Journal, Wednesday, 12/29/2010.
BEAVEN, CHARLES, 90, originally of St. Mary's, KY, but a long-time resident of Louisville's South end, entered into eternal life on the Feast of the Holy Family, December 26th, 2010 at Floyd Memorial Hospital, New Albany IN, having received the Sacrament of the Sick and the Last Anointing. For many years a member of Most Blessed Sacrament parish (Taylor and Berry Blvds.) and a founding contributor to the building of the present parish church under the auspices of its first pastor, Msgr. William J. Mulcahy, Charles was later until his passing a member of St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, 1104 S. 6th Street, Louisville, the parish he so loved and where felt so much at home together with his recently deceased wife, Mary Cecilia ("Celie") of 66 years in Holy Matrimony. He was faithful to his Catholic faith, a devoted and loving husband, and a relentlessly providing and dutiful father and grandfather in his quietly expressive yet always attentive and concerned demeanor. A decorated World War II veteran of the Army Air Corp's South-Pacific Campaign, he would later work for some 49 years in the dry cleaning industry, first with Du Laney and later with Krish Bros., years for which he was always grateful and appreciative. Survivors include his sons, Charles Joseph (Mary Ann), Dr. Joseph Herman (Dianne), Dr. John Graves (Pilar) and daughter, Mary Cecilia Franklin (Donald). Survivors also include four brothers, Jack (Rita Ann), Hill, Dr. Mike and Joe Lee (Anna Blaine); a sister, Theresa Martin (Charles); and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and numerous friends. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29th and from 10 a.m. -12.30 p.m. on Thursday, December 30th at J. E. Ratterman & Son Funeral Home, 7336 Southside Drive, Louisville. Thereafter, Mass of the Resurrection and Thanksgiving will be concelebrated at 1 p.m. at St. Louis Bertrand Church, 1104 S. 6th Street, with burial to immediately follow in St. Michael Cemetery. The family would like to express, on behalf and in memory of Charles and Cecilia, their appreciation and gratitude to the professional and pastoral care staff at Lincoln Hills Health Center, 326 Country Club Drive, New Albany, IN 47150 and to the ICU and med-surg staff and ancillary services of Floyd Memorial Hospital, 1850 State Street, New Albany, IN 47150. Expressions of sympathy should kindly be made to De Sales High School Scholarship Fund in his memory, 425 Kenwood Drive, Louisville, KY 40214-2897 (tel. 502-368-6519).
