Rosie Bell Guffey

Mrs. Guffey, age eighty-two years, two weeks and five days of age and a resident of Scottsboro, Alabama, died Sunday, February 13, 1980.

Born January 25, 1898 in Marshall County, Alabama to John "Jake" Helton and Mary Alevia (Henson) Helton, Rosie was the seventh of at least ten children in her family.

In November of 1909 the Helton family lost their mother to illness. Rosie was only eleven at the time. Eventually her father remarried to a very kind woman named Willie Tennessee Wilson. The Heltons really loved their stepmother Willie, as did her many step-grandchildren.

Bertha, Merry "Louise", Serena Marie, Ovella, Dollie Inez, Altha Luvern, Bonnie Vergie and three sons, James Sanders, Jacob "Owen" and Willie "Haden" Guffey.
