Donald Byington passed peacefully on December 24, 2010 at his home in Sunshine Terrace, Logan, Utah. He was only 44 days from his 92 birthday. Donald was born February 6, 1919 at Lone Pine, near Downey, Idaho to Royal Elliot Byington and Ethel Lovisa Christensen. He was the fourth of ten children.
On March 27, 1943 Don met Maryrose Ruth. They were married on July 27, 1943 in the Logan LDS Temple.
While the family lived in Ogden, Don worked many years for the railroad. Then he moved to Brigham to work for the Utah State Road Department until he retired about 32 years ago. Don and Rose moved to St. George, Utah after she retired. They enjoyed the time they lived there. On April 9, 2000 Maryroste RUTH Byington passed away in St. George. Dad stayed there for another year. He then moved to CacheValley where he has resided unitl his passing.
Don and Rose lived a full and rich life together in Brigham City. They raised 7 children of their own. Over the years many children lived in their home; some grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many foster children. Each of them called this place Home. They have 38 grandchildren, and a few stray dogs and cats.
When asked, what is the one thing you would like your children to know? Don said, I hope each one of my children will live the gospel and try to do unto others what they would want others to do unto them and be honest in what they do.
Don is survived by his children Gwen (Darrel) Price, Smithfield, Utah; Marie Woodard, Afton Wyoming; Don Jr. (Pam) Farr West, Utah; Karen (Allan) Olsen, Cheyenne, Wyoming; Yvonne Dixon, Royal City, Washington; Jeri (Gina), Washington, Utah
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose; a daughter Stephanie; a granddaughter, Amanda Rose; a son in law Robert Dixon; and his brothers Dwain and Melvin, sisters Ruby, Laurna, Delda, and Nona
The family expresses a special Thank You to all the nurses and staff at Sunshine Terrace and other who became friends and family. Dad loved you all!!
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 30,2010 11:30 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, Utah.
A viewing will be Wednesday, December 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Thursday 10:00 to 11:15 am at the mortuary.
Interment in the Brigham City Cemetery.
