Heart Attack Fatal For Edd Perkins at Redland

Edd A. Perkins, 62, pioneer farmer and timberman of Redland, died this morning at 7:30 o'clock of a heart attack at his home.

Mr. Perkins refused to eat breakfast this morning, complaining that he had a pain in his chest. When his wife asked him if he didn't want a doctor called, he said, "If this don't get better soon I won't live until a doctor got here." He died a few minutes after making this remark.

He had long been a leader in the Methodist church, and had led the singing for years. A native of Angelina County, Mr. Perkins was born Jan. 2, 1874.

Survivors include his wife, Gussie Perkins, one son, Hayden and one daughter, Mrs. Gordie Cloyd; six brothers, Ross, Lester, G. C. and Loya Perkins, all of Lufkin, W. H. of Dallas and Charlie of Houston; five sisters, Mrs. Virgie McCall of Burke, Mrs. Beulah Hicks of Mansfield, La., Mrs. Flora Finley and Mrs. May Burnett, both of Lufkin and Mrs. Wilma Shipley of Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Methodist Church in Redland. Interment will be at the Walker Cemetery, Rev. J. V. Bergland and Rev. C. O. Delaney will officiate.
