God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to call from our midst Carl Jeffers Alcorn, 68, Grove City, Ohio.

Jeff was born on September 2, 1937 to the late Vernon W. and Mattie Pearl Carson-Alcorn in Lincoln County Kentucky. He gave his life to God at an early age at the St James AME church in Danville, KY.

After graduating from Bate High School in 1957, Jeff entered the U.S. Air Force and later joined the U.S. Army where he retired in July 1977 with a distinguished military career.

While in the army, Jeff earned several awards for his service including the Bronze Star Medal for meritorius achievement against hostile forces in the Republic of Vietnam.

Additionally, Jeff retired after 22 years with the Ohio Civil Service. He was the head of the Office of Civil Rights Commission under the Industrial Commission of Ohio when he retired.

An avid golfer, Jeff was a founding charter member of the T.O.Tees Golf Club and President of the Wedge Club in Columbus, OHio.

Jeff leaves to cherish his memory a loving, loyal son and daughter-in-law, Uriah and LaTasha Alcorn of Columbus, OH; his former wife, Ruth Alcorn, brothers, Raymond W. Alcorn (Berline) of Cleveland, OH; H. Kenneth Alcorn, Dayton, OH; Melvin C. (Margaret) and Charles E. Alcorn of Danville, KY; and Sister, Helen D. Alcorn, Atlanta, GA. A host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive him.
