Raymond W. Alcorn was born February 20, 1935 in Lincoln County, KY. He was the eldest of six children born to the late Vernon and Mattie Pearl Carson-Alcorn.

Raymond (Hoot) attended Lincoln County Schools until age ten when the family relocated to Danville in 1945. He graduated from Bate High School, in 1953.

After high school, Hoot worked at Darnell hospital for a while, then Trane in Lexington, and the local railroad. Making a career change, he attended a trade school in Lexington and later joined his late uncle in Cleveland OH. He lived there until he was drafted into the army in 1957, serving two years in Germany.

As a youth, Raymond accepted Christ at St. James AME Church and served there faithfully until he left Danville.

In 1956, Raymond married Annie Lou Wilkinson- Alcorn. This union produced three children, Orlando, Aracelis Jina and Marcellina Raeann. After 39 years marriage, Annie Lou preceded Raymond in death in 1996.

Raymond was also the father of Debbie Bush and Nelsonya Helm. He had two other children, Ronald Barnes and Judy Carter that preceded him in death.

Raymond was a faithful employee of Ford Motor Company retiring in February 2000 with forty years' service and a perfect attendance record. A member of the Bass Pro Club he was an avid fisherman spending his leisure with his buddies' walleye fishing on Lake Erie.

He also enjoyed gardening and music. He became a master griller barbecuing at family events all around the country.

Raymond was proceeded in death by three brothers Carl, Melvin, and Charles Alcorn. Two very special brothers-in-law, Addison Wilkinson Jr. and Bobby Wilkinson Sr. also went before him.

Raymond leaves to cherish his memory five children Debbie Bush, Louisville, KY, Orlando Alcorn, Cleveland, OH, Nelsonya Helm, Stanford, KY, Aracelis Jina (Terrance) Hogan South Euclid, OH, and Marcellina Raeann Alcorn Cleveland, OH. One brother H. Kenneth Alcorn, Huber Heights, OH and sister Helen Alcorn, Atlanta, GA. Two caring sisters-in-law Margaret Alcorn, Danville, KY, Thelma Turner, Lexington, KY, and a loving, devoted life partner Berline Wilson, Warrenville Heights, OH

Known to them as "Poppy", Raymond was also blessed with and leaves behind 23 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
