Mrs. Charles S. Pearce, 1280 E.Condit street, 69 years old and for sixty years a resident of Decatur, passed away Thursday night at 8 o'clock in St. Mary's hospital, where she had been a patient the last two months, following an extended illness of diabetes. She had been a resident of Decatur since she was a little girl.
Ella M. Griswold was born May 17, 1857 in Pekin, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A P. Griswold. The family moved to Decatur in 1865 where Mr.Griswold was associated with Barber & Hawley in the C.B. & Q. manufacturing plant and later with the Peddecord & Burrows bank.
She was married to Charles Pearce in 1876. Her husband survives with the following named children, Sumner Pearce, Westport, Ind, Harry M. Pearce, Overlin, Mo, Frank G. Pearce, Mt.Zion, Charles W., Fred G and Lester E.Pearce, Terre Haute, Mrs. Vallie M. Fleming and Miss Florence Pearce of Decatur. She also leaves her sisters, Mrs.Thomas Smith of Pekin and Mrs. Fannie Simmons of Salt Lake City Utah and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Pearce was a member of the First Congregational church and the Ladies Auxiliary.
