Dewey Middleton, 42, resident of this city and Hayti for many years, died Tuesday, December 27, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Poplar Bluff and funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Pentecostal church in Hayti, with the Rev. Joe White officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, with LaForge Undertaking Company service.
Mr. Middleton was born January 13, 1913, in Webster County, Miss., the son of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Middleton and moved to this county with his family when a small boy. He engaged in the trucking business here for several years and was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his parents, who now live in Hayti; a son, Dewey Neely, foster son of Chief of Police and Mrs. E.M. Neely of this city; a daughter, Connie June Middleton of Gary, Ind.; five brothers, James and Roy Middleton of Caruthersville, Coleman and Thomas Middleton of Hayti and Tess Middleton of Benton Harbor, Mich.; also four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Coleman of Hayti, Mrs. Ola Wimberley and Mrs. Margie Ervin of Caruthersville and Mrs. Lorene Flemings of Mississippi.
