Funeral services for Alvin Azro Weeks, 85, Vernal, were conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Vernal Second LDS Ward Chapel.
Mr. Weeks died Sunday at 1 p.m. at the home of a son, Alvin E. Weeks, of a heart ailment. He was born September 7, 1869, in Westfiled, Vermont, to George Edwin and Elizabeth Hadlock Weeks.
Mr. Weeks came to Vernal at the age of 24 to join his parents, who were converts to the LDS Church and had come to Utah earlier. He was a farmer and stock grower and later became the Uintah Basin agent for Singer Sewing Machine Company. He was also associated at one time with a son, Nelson, in the coal business.
In the Church Mr. Weeks had served as surperintendent of the Sunday School and as ward clerk.
He married Martha Ann Beck in Vernal on Dec. 29, 1897.
Survivors include former wife, Martha Ann Beck Weeks, Vernal; a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Florence) Sowards, Vallejo, California; seven sons, Alvin E. Nelson O., Fred E., William D., Shirley L., Vernal; Otis H., Salt Lake City and Don D., Vallejo, California; 37 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Della McKowen, Vernal; Mrs. Effie Winn, Alterra and Mrs. Fannie Winn, Salt Lake City.
Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery.
