Camden, April 14 - a message was received here today of the death of Mrs. Mary Kershaw Shannon, 86, which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank W. Lachicotte, in Charlotte, NC.

Mrs. Shannon was the widow of the late Charles J Shannon, who had served as Postmaster at Camden under four presidents, Cleveland, Taft, McKinley and Wilson. He died in February of last year.

She was a daughter of the late Gen. Joseph B Kershaw of Confederate fame and is survived by the following children: J. Kershaw Shannon, W.M. Shannon, Mrs. G.L. Blackwell, Mrs. Harriet S. Steedman of Camden, Mrs. A.S. Heyward of Yemassee, Randolph W Shannon of Jefferson, Mrs. C. Guy Gunter of Greenville, Mrs. F.W. Lachicotte of Charlotte and Charles J Shannon, III, of Savannah.
