Karl Bernhard Binau died 24 December 1954 at his home, where he suffered a heart attack. He was born 27 December 1889 on a farm in Wayne County, Iowa to George Binau and Ida Gazina Hulsebus. He and the family were members of the New Zion Methodist Church.
On 6 November 1912 he married Alice Hindman. After Karl and Alice were married, Karl's parents retired and moved to Allerton, and Karl and Alice lived on the old Binau homestead. Alice died 22 December 1918 during the Spanish flu epidemic.
After the death of Alice, Karl moved to Newton and worked for the Maytag Company. He returned to Allerton and on June 1, 1921 married Lorena Duden.
Karl opened his own garage and implement business in 1925 and operated the business until he sold it in 1948.
Karl and Lorena had one child, Lois Inez Binau. He is buried in the Allerton Cemetery.
