SERVICES HELD FOR LEONARD EMIL BLOOMQUIST
Funeral services for Leonard Emil Bloomquist who died May 21 were held Monday, May 27, 1963 at the Mission Covenant Church with Rev. Edgar Lindstrom officiating. Mrs. Earl McCluskey, Jr., sang "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset." Mrs. Vernon Nelson served as organist.
Pall bearers were Keene Reed, Sheldon Lind, Anthon Swanson, Duane Mauer, Dale Mauer, and Alva Hunt. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery with the Wausa Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Leonard Emil Bloomquist, son of the late C. P. Bloomquist, was born May 23, 1875 in Galesburg, Illinois. Early in life his family moved to aura. He was baptized and confirmed in the Thabor Lutheran Church and as a young man he joined the Mission Covenant Church.
On March 12, 1897, he was united in marriage to Nellie Eleanor Peterson in Essex, Iowa and to this union were born six children, three girls and tree boys.
Mr. Bloomquist farmed and later was in the heating and plumbing business and did well work.
Mrs. Bloomquist passed away May 7, 1945. For the past 10 years, Mr. Bloomquist has resided with his son, Ralph and family in Chicago, Illinois, April 29th he was struck by a car while crossing a Chicago street and did not regain consciousness. He passed away Tuesday, May 21, 1963, at the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 28 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two children, son Russell and daughter, Violet (Mrs. J. K. Bruner); a sister, Mrs. A. R. Hunt (Hannah) and a half brother, Luther.
He is survived by two daughters, Myrtle (Mrs. Charles Mauer) of Plainview, Nebraska and Fern (Mrs. Lee Stout) of Realtors, California; two sons, Ralph and Allan, both of Chicago; five half sisters, Anna (Mrs. Dick Kool), Hazel, (Mrs. Gust A Nelson) both of Wausa, Mabel (Mrs. Otto Nelson), of Bloomfield, Nebraska, Hattie, (Mrs. Carl Nelson) of Creighton, Nebraska, and Ida (Mrs. Nels Alm) of Wilton, North Dakota, and one half brother, Anthon Bloomquist of Wausa, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
