Luria Mae Tate
Luria Mae (Toots) Bartlett Tate, 87, of the Yuma Community went home to be with her Heavenly Father early Saturday morning (May 29, 2010) at the Brian Center following a brief illness.
She was born in Wythe County, Virginia and had spent the majority of her life in Gate City, VA. Luria was a beautician for 26 years in this area. She was a member of Oak Glen Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & sister who was a wonderful homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Tate; her sons-in-law, Mack Lawson, Bill Donnelly & Bill Pifer; her sisters, Iowa Roberts & Lissie Arnold; a special niece, Helen Pierson.
Luria Tate is survived by her daughters, Barbara Lawson (Duffield, VA) & Mildred Pifer (Gate City, VA); her 5 grandchildren, Eddie Lawson & wife, Melissa, Patricia Parks & husband, Robert, Joe Skeens, Billy Skeens & Jackie Lawson; 12 great grandchildren, Ricky Lawson, Julie Begley, Misty Lawson, Savannah Lawson, Candice Akers, Amber Lawson, William Skeens, Joey Skeens III, J. R. Parks, Nathan Parks, Jodi Skeens & Haylee Skeens; four great-great grandchildren, Derrion, R.J., Chris, and Kierra Lawson; sisters, Gladys Hicks (Illinois) & Marie (Dot) McCann (Kingsport, TN); a brother, Robert Glenn Bartlett, Jr. (Florida); a special nephew, Wayne Arnold & wife, Phyllis along with several additional nieces & nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday (May 30, 2010) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home or friends may also call anytime at the residence of the daughter, Mildred Pifer.
A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday (May 30, 2010) at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Danny Sykes officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted on Monday (May 31, 2010) at 10 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery with her family serving as pallbearers.
Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Tate family.
