GATE CITY, Va. - Lissie Bartlett Arnold, 91, of the Yuma community, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday (Aug. 20, 2006) while at the Life Care Center of Gray. She longed for this day and we rejoice with her in her homegoing!
She was the daughter of the late Robert Glen and Nora Newman Bartlett and was born in Iron Ridge, Va. She was a homemaker and was of the Apostolic faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. (Jim) Arnold (2004); two sisters, Io Roberts and Berthal Bartlett; one brother: William Clarence Bartlett.
Survivors include a son, Wayne Arnold and wife, Phyllis of Gate City, Va.; daughter, Norma McClellan and husband Richard "Dick" of Kingsport; grandchildren, Tammy Spencer and husband Ross, Jeff Arnold and wife Twilla, Tracey Pierson and husband William and Dee Dee Baker and husband Vance; great-grandchildren, Aaron Pierson, Alisha Spencer, Matthew Pierson and wife, Kelli Jo, James "J.E.S." Spencer, Katie Baker, Jeffery Arnold, Stephen Arnold and Amanda Baker; five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gladys Hicks and husband Jack of Jonesborough, Anna Marie McCann of Kingsport, Mae Tate of Gate City, Va.; one brother, Robert G. Bartlett of Florida; several nieces, nephews, cousins and others also survive.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home.
The funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Pete Barbour and Rev. Wrightly Salling officiating.
Music will be provided by Denise Johnson.
The committal service will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the Holston View Cemetery. It is requested that everyone meet at the funeral home by 11 a.m.to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Arnold, Stephen Arnold, Jeffery Arnold, J.E.S. Spencer, William Pierson, Vance Baker, Aaron Pierson and Matthew Pierson.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Scott County Life Saving Crew, P.O. Box 1088, Gate City, Va. 24251.
