SIMONS, Betty Davis, 67, of Vinton, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 1997, in a local hospital. She was a retired Kroger employee with 27 years of servi ce, and a member of the Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Lester C. Simons; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley C. and Terry L. Simons of Vinton, Dale E. and Marilyn B. Simons of Deland, Fla.; three grandchildren, Elizabeth B. Simons, Danielle B. Simons, and Brett D. Simons; five sisters, Jearldean Cheatham, Gladys Rush, Anna Mae Lipscomb, twin sister Doris June Manning and husband, Robert A., Jacquelyn Gilbert, all of Lynchburg; brother, John Davis and wife, Margaret, of Lynchburg. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 11 a.m. Friday, July 4, 1997, with Dr. George Wesley Jones officiating. Interment will be in the Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Vinton First Aid Crew. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, or other times at the home.
