Mattie was born near Thatchers Landing, TN, where both sides of her family lived.
She married Ernest Matheny in about 1908 and they had the following children: Orville, Hazel, Alexander, Oleta and Hershel. Mattie shared stories of the family which has helped immensely in piecing together images from the past that would otherwise be unknown to us.
