According to what I was told, after he and his brothers went swimming, Charles Hamilton (as he was called) got sick, quickly turning into an ear infection. This eventually led to severe mastoiditis and pneumonia, for which he was hospitalized at Nan Travis Hospital in Jacksonville, where he died.
