Everett Powell

Everett L. Powell, 68, of Nampa, died Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Nampa hospital. Mr. Powell was born April 27, 1918, at Victor, Teton County, Idaho, to James Everett and Susannah Francis Kearsley Powell. At age 11 he moved with his family to Rexburg, where he was reared and educated. He married Rhea Eardley April 29, 1940, at Sugar City. Their marriage was later solemnized in July 1956 at the Idaho Falls LDS temple. After their marriage they moved to St. Helens, Ore.

He entered the U.S. Army March 1, 1945, and served in the Philippines during World War II. He was honorably discharged May 13, 1946. He worked for the Firtex Insulation plant in St. Helens and later went to work for the Longview Fiber plant in Longview, Wash. He retired as a journeyman pipe fitter in 1983. The couple moved to Nampa that year, where they had since resided. He was a member of the Nampa Sixth Ward LDS Church. He had held several positions in the church, including stake missionary, ward executive secretary, elders quorum president, seventies group leader, high priest group leader and was currently serving as a temple worker at the Boise LDS temple.

He is survived by his wife of Nampa; three daughters, JoAnn (Mrs. Roland) Swallow of Orem, Utah, Verla (Mrs. Ron) Woolstenhulme of Nampa and Debra (Mrs. Jeff) Reynolds of Wahiawa, Hawaii; his mother, Mrs. Susannah Powell of Chehalis, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Johnson of Chehalis; four brothers, Ross Powell of Spokane, Wash., Harold Powell of St. Helens, Francis Powell of Laveen, Ariz., and Ralph Powell of Anderson, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Calvin; and a son, Brent.
