Upshur Co., Tx.) ( from Dock Nutt (his brother-in-law) Beach Miss. 1-29-1916 Dear brother, this is in answer to your card you wrote brother Jim. Am sorry to tell you he left this earth for a future home the 25th day of last November. He had been in feeble health for a year or more. He just fell asleep in the arms of Jesus sitting in his chair. It washeart failure. There isn't but two of us left. Tom & myself. Tom's health is poorly. I am in very good health for my age. Will be sixty six in May. There isn't any of the old Lankford family living but Joe. Most all of the old set of Majors are gone. Dan Jack & Denis have passed away in the last three or four years. Tom, Henry are all that left of them—that is the old ones. Brother Jim's wife is still living. She is most an invalid tho. He left her plenty to live on. The children are all living here near. My children are all married but three boys. Two live with me. One is a RR man is in Ill. at present. I live in a few steps of our church. We are all getting on very well. What became of Nickles Emma's husband. He promised to write us when he left here for home but never did. When you write again tell about all your family. Is Frank home yet? You are 85 years old. I can't realize it. I don't expect to stay here that long. I could write you a lot but you have been gone from here so long there isn't much I could tell you that would interest you. So will close.
