In 1910 he and his parents and two siblings lived on a farm they owned, mortgage free, in West Franklin Township, Armstrong County, PA.

In 1920 he and his parents and three sisters lived on a farm in the same township. They owned their home, mortgage free. His sister Eliza worked as a weaver in the woolen mill.

In 1930 he and his wife and their two children lived in South Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, PA. They were paying three dollars a month rent. He was a coal miner.

In 1940 he and Freda and their four children lived in a house in West Franklin Township, Armstrong County, PA. They owned their home, which was valued at $1000. He worked as a miner in the mines--whether coal or limestone is not known. In 1939 he had an income of $280 for 14 weeks of work.

In 1950 he and his wife and their four youngest children lived in probably the same house. Their house was on a piece of property larger than three acres, and was located on Township Road 306 near State Road 3013. He worked doing general repairs at a coal mine.
