Funeral Services
Held Sunday For
Mrs. J. H. Carr
Mrs. Harve Carr, long time resident of Moulton and vicinity, passed away early Saturday morning at the home of her son, Harlan, where she had been in poor health for the past several weeks.
Mrs. Carr was born in Appanoose County, May 6, 1865 and departed this life Saturday, July 13, 1940, at the age of 75 years, two months and seven days. Her husband preceded her in death, October 15, 1932. She became a member of the Orleans Christian church early in life and later with her husband placed her membership in the Moulton church. In the country she set the fine example as a mother by never missing a Sunday of service when possible to attend. She was always anxious to attend what they called in earlier days, "protracted meetings."
During the last two years her health did not permit her to attend the services, but she enjoyed sitting in her yard across from the church and listening in.
Mrs. Carr was married to Mr. Harvey Carr January 20, 1881, and to this union were born five children, two of whom with her husband preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Mrs. Tracie Orcutt, Corydon, Iowa; two sons, Harlan and Oral, of Moulton; four sisters, Mrs. Barbara Shield, of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Kate Clark, of Ottumwa, Iowa; Mrs. Susie McFall, of Beaverly, Kans.; Mrs. Laura Horn, of Moulton; one brother, Jim Davis, of California, and thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, besides a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Christian church at 2:30, in charge of Rev. Lester Strubhar, with burial at Oakland.

Is Mourned
This community was shocked and saddened, Wednesday when word was received here that O. B. Carr, former Moulton resident, but later of Compton, Cali., had died following an extended illness. The cause of his death was contributed to intestinal disorders. He passed away, Tuesday evening at 7:00 at the Compton hospital, at the age of 52 years.
Mr. Carr was born on a farm near Moulton and was highly regarded by his countless friends. He was mechanically minded and after making a study of water supervision was named as water superintendent of Moulton which position he held for several years. About two years ago he resigned his position with the town and moved to Compton, Cali., where he was employed by a ship building concern. He was finally forced to retire due to ill health.
During his residence in Moulton he had had several periods of illness but it was thought at the time it could be corrected by diet. He had been quite ill in California for about two months, but it was thought he had entirely recovered, until the relapse resulting in his death occured.
He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Carr, both deceased, and was born October 17, 1892. Surviving are his wife, one son, James in the U. S. Army; a brother, Harlan, of Moulton; a sister, Mrs. Tracy Orcutt of Kansas City, Mo. Other relatives and innumerable friends are also left to mourn his passing. Two brothers preceded him in death.
It is not expected that the body will be brought to Moulton for burial but that the remains would be laid to rest in Compton. No definite word concerning funeral arrangements were given in the brief telegram which told of his death.
The deepest sympathies of the community are extended to the bereaved family and other relatives.
