Sanford Davis Summoned
Unionville, Ia., April 5, 1929 It was reported today that Sanford Davis, a resident of Unionville, who has lately been living with his son, Paul Davis, who is superintendent of schools at Udell, died this morning. Mr. Davis was one of the early and long time residents of the northeast section of the county and had been an employee of the Rock Island railroad for so many years that he was retired with a pension in recognition of his service. Mrs. Davis preceded her husband in death several years ago. Mr. Davis was a man of fine character and industry. He had been a section foreman with the Rock Island lines practically since they had been constructed through Unionville and Udell. He together with his wife were blessed with a large family and six are reported to survive as follows: Paul Davis of Udell, Clyde Davis of Trenton, MO., Fred Davis of Unionville, Vern Davis, of west of Unionville, Mrs. Elizabeth Selix of Udell and Noah Davis of Udell. Mr. Davis was well known and well liked and his death brings sorrow to a host of friends. He was of pioneer stock and helped to build the county. Funeral arrangements are yet to be made and will be announced later, it is reported.
