EMMA A ZIMMERMAN
Services were held May 4 for Emma A Zimmerman, 93, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Monticello, with burial at the Wayne Zion Cemetery. The Rev. Robert E. Slade and Rev. Karl Nyline officiated at the services.
Emma A. Zimmerman, formerly of Monticello, died May 1 at the Waconia Health Care Facility in Waconia, Minn.
Emma A Aman was born Feb 4, 1894 near Eureka, SD., the daughter of Frederick and Eva Hoffman Aman. She attended school in Eureka. The family later moved to Lehr, SD, and Emma worked as a clerk in the general store. She then went to Bismarck, ND, where she studied to be a nurse. She abandoned her education following the death of her father, and returned home.
Emma came to Monticello to visit a niece and met George Zimmerman. Emma Aman and George Zimmerman were married July 29, 1926, in Monticello. The couple farmed the Zimmerman family farm in Wayne Township near Monticello. George died in November 1936.
Emma moved from the farm to Monticello in 1942. She made her home there until 1979, when she moved to Chaska, Minn to be near her daughter, Doris.
Emma is survived by two daughters, Margaret Ann Freeman of Santa Monica, Calif., and Doris Pederson of Chaska, Minn; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 13 brothers and sisters.
Casketbearers were Warren Pederson, William Freeman, George Freeman, Ray Heeren, David Arduser, Ronald Arduser, Clifford Helgens and George Tobiason.
Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of the arrangements.
