Gottlieb F. Aman, the son of Fred and Eva (Hoffman) Aman was born in Eureka, South Dakota, February 12, 1889. He attended schools in Eureka and Redfield, and spent several years in the teaching profession. Gottlieb and Marie Lehr, born December 25, 1893, were married November 12, 1911. After their marriage they moved to Lehr where he was employed in the lumber yard. After a few years he bought a butcher shop, and later purchased a farm east of Lehr where he farmed until his death in August 1955. Mr. Aman, served on the school board for some time. Marie Aman grew up in the Lehr vicinity. Her parents were Andrew Lehr and Christina Maier. Her father, Andrew Lehr founded the city of Lehr which was named for him. Gottlieb and Marie Aman were the parents of eleven children, Leslie preceded them in death at the age of one year; Luella Herren and Myrtie Arduser, Monticello, Iowa; Vivian Fiechtner, Salt Lake City, Utah; Gladys Vogel, San Diego, California; Norma Meier, Alta Loma, California; Laura Lepp, Wishek, North Dakota; Harry, White Fish, Montana; Ray, Big Sandy, Montana; Clayton, Grand Forks, North Dakota and Eugene, Lehr, North Dakota.
