David William Garst, 75, (MSGT, Ret.) passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 6, 2010 in Ocean Springs, MS.

Mr. Garst was born in Girard, IL on January 14, 1935. His career included work in the field of radar and instruction in the USAF and later in the engineering department of Emerson Electronics. He had the opportunity to travel the states and world with his profession. He was affectionately nicknamed the "gadget guy" because of his fascination with technology. He was always tinkering with his toys. Besides his love for family and technology, he enjoyed conversing with friends at the coffee shop. He was a loving dad and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Norma Edwards Garst; and his parents, Alpheus and Sadie Garst.

He is survived by three daughters and son-in-laws, Janet and Curtis Giametta, Pamela and Robert Mollett, of Ocean Springs and Arlene and Paul Oddo of Laguna Niguel, CA, five grandchildren, David, Michael, Joseph, Olivia, and Emily. In addition, he is survived by one sister, Leta Sims and a brother, Fred Garst of Girard, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to join the family for visitation Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bradford O'Keefe in Ocean Springs. Everyone is also welcome to attend the interment of both David and Norma Garst, at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, 2010 at the VA National Cemetery in Biloxi. Mr. Garst will be honored with a full military service.
