Norma Edwards Garst
Mrs. Norma Garst, 70, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, in Ocean Springs.
She was a longtime resident of the Gulf Coast. She had suffered a significant stroke 6 years ago, and faced each day thereafter with strength, dignity, selflessness, and a smile.
Mrs. Garst was born and raised in Liverpool, England. She met her husband, David, while he was stationed in England with the Air Force. They were married for 51 years. Her hobbies included family outings, traveling, reading, cooking, shopping, and planting flowers. She cherished all things of beauty including sunrises, sunsets, and long rides along the coast. We will love her forever, and she will always have a special place in our hearts.
Mrs. Garst was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Edwards, and Stanley and Emily Bartlett, sisters, Mary Swain, Maisie Edwards, and Laura Hennessy.
She is survived by her husband David Garst, daughters and son-in laws, Janet and Tony Giametta, Pamela and Robert Mollett, all of Ocean Springs, and Arlene and Paul Oddo of Laguna Niguel, CA, five grandchildren, David, Michael, Joseph, Olivia, and Emily, sister Jean Booth of Manchester, England, and numerous nieces and nephews of the United Kingdom.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 26, 2008 at Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow.
