Coffey Drive
James K. Ruble, 77, of Coffey Drive died at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Mr. Ruble retired in 1983 from Arvin Industries where he worked for 38 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of East Columbus United Methodist Church.
He lived his early life in Decatur County before moving to Columbus.
He was a board member and volunteer with Housing Partnerships and was an avid gardener, woodcutter and supporter of Columbus athletics.
Funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Vernon Jewell-Nick Rittman Funeral Home with the Revs. Tom Pitcher and Sam Chizmar officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to East Columbus United Methodist Church or Housing Partnerships.
Mr. Ruble was born in Decatur County Aug. 19, 1922, the son of Joseph and Stella Blair Ruble. He married Dorothy Mae Sturgeon April 30, 1949. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Larry D. Ruble of Columbus; a daughter, Pamela Ruble Guthrie of Greencastle; brothers, Bob Ruble of Millhousen, Jerry Ruble of Aurora and Archie Ruble of Newpoint; sisters, Nelrose Cook of Newpoint and Vivian Folsom of Seymour; grandchildren, Craig Ruble of Paw Paw, Mich., Clay and Cory Ruble, both of Columbus, Tricia Day of North Carolina and Danielle Day of Indianapolis; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Calvin and Joseph R. Ruble.
